Roger Ebert Review 4 out of 4 stars

Created in 1938 by Canadian-American Joe Shuster and American Jerry Siegel, Superman became the first and greatest superhero. Superman: The Movie (1978) is still considered by many to be the gold standard by which all superhero movies are measured. Sent from his dying homeworld of Krypton by parents in search of a better life, an illegal immigrant must use his powers for the betterment of humankind. Superman: The Movie fills us with hope and childlike wonder. You will still believe a man can fly. Shot on location in Canada.
